Wenn jemand sinnlose Nachrichten abschicken will, kann er auch einen einzelnen Punkt oder Buchstaben in die Nachricht schreiben. Wirklich verhindern kann man das eh nicht, deshalb sehe ich kaum einen Nutzen darin, diesen Fall abzufangen.

Ah, I see what you mean. This could be fixed by changing the CSS display property for .post.reply from inline-block to table. However, this has the side effect of changing the spacing of the layout, so it would require some more tweaking.
